Step 1: Online Booking
Begin with our straightforward online booking system. You'll have your marriage service arranged within minutes.
Step 2: Notice of Intended Marriage
Our team will assist you in properly completing your Notice of Intended Marriage form. This document must be lodged at least one calendar month before your intended marriage date. Upon receipt, we can confirm your ceremony details and location.
Step 3: Document Verification
You'll need to provide your identification documents (either a passport or birth certificate plus photo ID). For those previously married, divorce papers or a death certificate must be presented. Our celebrants provide comprehensive guidance through the documentation process.
Step 4: Marriage Ceremony
Arrive at your chosen location with your two witnesses (or utilise our witness service). The signing of your marriage documents completes the legal requirements. We've designed the process to be both meaningful and efficient.
Completion
You'll receive your commemorative marriage certificate immediately after the ceremony. We handle the registration with NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, after which you can order your official certificate.

Marriage Requirements
Understanding the legal requirements for marriage in Newcastle
Marriage in New South Wales requires both parties to be at least 18 years old. For those aged 16-17, both court approval and parental consent are mandatory prerequisites.
Marriage in Newcastle is open to all, regardless of citizenship or residency status. International visitors are welcome to marry here, provided they meet all other legal requirements.
Our marriage services are available to all couples, regardless of gender, sexuality, or religious beliefs. There is no requirement for religious elements in your ceremony.
Those previously married must provide evidence of their freedom to marry, typically through divorce papers or a death certificate of their former spouse.
Original identification documents are required: either a current passport, or a birth certificate with additional photo ID. Any documents not in English must be accompanied by NAATI-certified translations.
NSW law requires both partners and two witnesses to be physically present at the marriage service. Proxy or online marriages are not legally recognised.
A Notice of Intended Marriage must be lodged a minimum of one month before your ceremony date, with the option to lodge up to 18 months in advance.
Both parties must demonstrate a clear understanding of marriage's meaning and provide free consent. The ability to make independent decisions regarding marriage is essential.
In specific circumstances, applications can be made to reduce the one-month notice period. Qualifying situations include work commitments, travel arrangements, medical conditions, or legal requirements.
